What is your favorite color? and why?

I am going to go with Black because to me it symbolizes power and the idea of not needing anything. the color Black stands alone among all colors because it can dominate every single one of them, but it can also compliment every single color. Black can blend with every scenario. It can also serve as a contrasting background to give another color the spotlight. If I could pick two colors I would have black and something else.
how about you?

It’s still February

for just one more day….

make it happen

make it last!

Sge’s birthday photoshoot

we were walking in the park with the dog, taking pictures, etc.. and I saw some other guy come into the park with his professional camera or whatever and I made a few jokes about it. anyway, we progress.. and later it looked like he was like taking pictures of us from the other side of the river. It was a little weird so I was like lets get out of here. anyway, later on from there we were walking around the loop because the park is a loop and he was going the other way. anyway, he stopped us and asked us if he could take pictures of us cause there wasn’t really anything else going on so he asked us our names and stuff and i go.. brian.. paused for a second and then i totally whipped out our new name on his ass and introduced it for the first time on him and was like bickersmith.[beyotches].. first time i ever had to spell my name ever.. so the dude continued to follow us around for a while, which was weird. we wondered if we were supposed to pose or something. sage went crazy by the water at one point when she fell in and got her butt wet. it was also her birthday. it was freezing cold. so we continued to walk towards home with him following. at one point she got caught around a tree. after he took what seemed like a roll of film he finally said thanks and we were on our way. the next day our picture did appear on the front page of the morning sun with caption and everything. two days later I came across these pictures on the website. the one used was one of us from opposite the river, before we knew he was really taking pictures of us, with our backs walking away. but whatever.

Updating an earlier story…

So Tony Kornheiser does in fact join the ESPN team of Mike Tirico and Joe Theisman to broadcast the Monday Night Football Games.

The Sunday night game moves to NBC where John Madden and Al Michaels will team up again.

In order for NBC to acquire the rights to Al Michaels the following deal was announced.

1) Al Michaels is released from his contract at ABC.

2) ESPN acquires rights to early-round Ryder Cup coverage for four future tournaments.

3) ESPN is allowed to show more Olympic highlights.

4) Disney gets from Universal the rights for “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, ” a 1920’s cartoon series created by Walt Disney that predates Mickey Mouse.

For those who don’t know, Disney owns ABC and ESPN, and Universal owns NBC.

Interesting.

I make no apologies

...but I don’t give much of a rat’s ass about the Olympics.

I’d like to catch the semifinal hockey games and thats about it.

I Walk A Lot

On the average day I walk about four hours.

And I’m not talking about slow walking (although I do that too).

I’m talking about speed walking.

Today, I walked 8 hours non stop straight through.

Anyway,

Walk on!

PANDORA is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I am currently dialed in the groove to my personal preferences including a clear focus on recording studio production, acoustic rhythm piano, blues influences, mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation, extensive vamping, electric guitar riffs and solos, electronica influences, club rap roots, hardcore rap influences, southern rap roots, syncopated beats, mild rhythmic syncopation, major key tonality, melodic part writing, sublte use of vocal harmony, vocal-centric aesthetics, dynamic vocalists, lyrics that tell a story, heavy use of chordal patterning, It’s sick. A little history.
My site originally started out as a senior thesis project in college. There are some old backups of it pre-project (I first went live in May 2000) but a majority of my work and ideas (of which many aren’t currently in place) took hold during that senior project. At the beginning I posted my progress and things that I was doing to achieve my goals. This I guess was my original blog which started in January 2001. That piece is not currently online. What is online I believe is the first posts I made after graduation when the project took on its own life post college and became a part of my life and not just school work. Currently I am still in the process of working out some ideas to take advantage of my brian power and produce something cool. So I guess as always, stay tuned.

Need to not list…

Need to not think about things I shouldn’t think about.

February

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

February was named for the Roman god Februus, the god of purification. January and February were the last two months to be added to the Roman calendar, since the Romans originally considered winter a monthless period. This change was made by Numa Pompilius about 700 BC in order to bring the calendar in line with a standard lunar year. Numa’s Februarius contained 29 days (30 in a leap year). Augustus is alleged to have removed one day from February and added it to August, (renamed from Sextilis to honor himself), so that Julius Caesar’s July would not contain more days. However there is little historical evidence to support this claim.

February was nominally the last month of the Roman calendar, as the year originally began in March. At certain intervals Roman priests inserted an intercalary month, Mercedonius, after February to realign the year with the seasons.

Historical names for February include the Anglo-Saxon terms Solmoneth (mud month) and Kale-monath (named for cabbage) as well as Charlemagne’s designation Hornung. In old Japanese calendar, the month is called Kisaragi (如月, 絹更月 or 衣更月). It is sometimes also called Mumetsuki (梅見月) or Konometsuki (木目月). In Finnish, the month is called helmikuu, meaning “month of the pearl”.

“February” is pronounced without the first r, as “Febuary”, by many speakers. This is probably elision, or an analogical change influenced by “January”.

So…

What else is going on?

It’s February already.

What a weird word.

How did they come up with that one?

Why are the months named as they are?

Hmmm..

Perhaps I will WIKI that and report back to you later.

Super Bowl, etc

Close game at the beginning
Seattle came out at the beginning of the game with a couple long drives including a field goal by Josh Brown and a bunch of catches early by Darrell Jackson. Matt Hasselback seemed to be throwing the ball well and the Seahawks were moving the ball. Seattle potentially scored a touchdown in the first quarter but Jackson was flagged for offensive interference. Even though I thought both players were touching each other, he did push off last to find space for the catch.

Pittsburgh was unable to produce anything and tied a record held by two other teams by not gaining a First Down at all in the first quarter. Eventually they were able to get a first down when Antawn Randel-El held on to a bobbled ball. Ben Roethlisberger was beginning to get a drive going but eventually threw in an interception.

Seattle didn’t score again in the first half and Pittsburgh was able to score within the two minute warning before halftime by a left side quarterback sneak by Roethlisberger. He went up in the air and came down but didn’t exactly appear to cross the goal line. The ref ran on to the field with one arm up and a few seconds later put the other arm up to signal a touchdown. The play was reviewed and the ref didn’t change the ruling on the field due to lacking irrefutable evidence to overturn the call.

At halftime, I considered the game dominated by the Seahawks even though they were losing 7-3 on what a considered sorta a bullshit touchdown at the time. (later in time, I have accepted this touchdown)

Pittsburgh came running out of the gates in the second half. Willie Parker had the longest touchdown run in Super History as he scored on a 75 yard counter to the right. The score was then 14-3.

Pittsburgh drove again and threatened to score another touchdown when Seattle’s backup Kelly Herndon made an interception and returned the ball 70+ yards for another Super Bowl long.

Seattle eventually scored a touchdown to make the game 14-10 and threatened on another drive to score again. Pittsburgh was able to make a critical interception on Hasselback and that’s when the biggest play of the game occured… Fake-39 Toss X-Reverse Pass

The Gadget Play was Awesome
Pittsburgh ran these plays all season. I saw many of them. The two they ran in this game both worked. On the first one, Hines Ward scampered left to the outside for a first down on 15 yard run. That worked. On the second one, Roethlisberger pitched to to Parker who handed off to Randel-El (a college quarterback at Indiana U) then threw the prettiest pass of the night to Hines Ward. By far, this was The play of the Night!

Pittsburgh won 21-10. Jerome Bettis retired a champion in his hometown. Troy Polamalu was everywhere and anywhere on defense and I love that he lines up for the victory formation all season. Joey Porter backed up his words with his tough hard play on Jerramy Stevens. Roethlisberger had a crappy game but was able to become the youngest quarterback ever to win the Super Bowl at 23 yrs, 11 months. Seattle had the crappiest ever end of half time-management ever. Other than that, the game was so-so. Would have liked more touchdowns, or obviously seeing the Falcons in the game.

Super Bowl Prediction

Okay, I’ve waited this long for a reason. Here is my final prediction:

Steelers 27, Seahawks 20

Korheiser on MNF?

It’s possible. Depending. Read on.
