One Year

June 6th, 2008

I had thought about making a big deal about it, then later forgot entirely which is partially a good thing.. but super huge congrats to myself for not waiting a table at Ponderosa in over a year. Words can’t adequately describe how grateful I am that I no longer have to wait tables to make a living. Yeah, maybe I miss some of the people I worked with and some of the regulars, but overall I do not miss it at all. Even though it’s only been a year, I still get excited every day that I don’t have to put those black pants and those black shoes and that stupid Pondo shirt on before I leave the house.

Old Poems

June 6th, 2008

Okay so last night I came across my monster files of poems from Spring 2001. I took a Poetry workshop class my last semester at school and because of that I was able to dig out a lot of poems during that time period. Unfortunately I haven’t done much with them since then… so I will be taking them and throwing them up (probably wiki style so I can easily edit them moving forward)... so here’s the first poem from the book “An Introduction to My World”

The Rhythm of My Thoughts

The tapping of my toes
to the rhythm of my mind,
has created an illusion
of spontaneous music.
As the wheels of my motor spin
and different ideas bounce
first from my brain
and then to my toes,
some jump down my throat
or swim down my arm.
My hands and fingers,
release this energy,
while my feet
keeps a steady beat.
If I am stumped,
inspiration rises
from the ground and
into my shoes,
up my legs,
over my stomach
and around my spine.
Either a good idea
is sparked and
sent to my pen,
or the opposite occurs
and is tapped out my toes.
