Karate Kobe

LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers watches as Mo Williams takes a shoe to the face by Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers after a steal in the closing seconds of the first half at The Quicken Loans Arena.
Lakers went on to win the game and be the first to give the Cavaliers a loss in Cleveland.
Trifecta for me Tonight
Got the three spot..
David Cook won American Idol
The Braves crushed the Mets, again.
The Lakers came back from 20 down to win Game 1 vs the Spurs..
Not bad.
Kobe, heating up!
MEMPHIS, TN - MARCH 22: Kobe Bryant #24 of the Los Angeles Lakers shoots a layup past Mike Miller #33 and Hakim Warrick #21 of the Memphis Grizzlies on March 22, 2007 at FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee.
Kobe became the 4th player in NBA history to score over 50 in 3 straight games tonight. He lead the team to victory and scored 60 points along the way!
It’s OVER
Lakers are blowing that 3-1 lead in the series.
Shitty
its so over
my lakers are getting the snot knocked out of them tonight
its 90 to 65 at the end of 3.
if anything, next years team will be even better
Do I know this guy?
"Maybe he wasn't hugged enough as a kid."
-Kobe in response to Raja Bell calling him a pompous, arrogant individual.
Too bad Mr Bell is suspended for tonights Game 6 matchup between the Suns and Lakers. Now there gonna have to stick James Jones or Shawn Marion on Kobe to try and contain him leaving on Diaw to cover Odom. All I know is that they are going to have to do a lot of double and triple teaming on Kobe and Lamar to try and stop either of them. That's just not happening.
Lakers up 3-1 on Suns
LOS ANGELES - APRIL 30: Kobe Bryant #8 of the Los Angeles Lakers shoots the buzzer beating game winning shot in overtime against the Phoenix Suns in game four of the Western Conference Quarterfinals during the 2006 NBA Playoffs at Staples Center on April 30, 2006 in Los Angeles, California. Lakers up 2-1
Lakers won last night against Phoenix. Lamar played great and there was balanced scoring for the entire team. Kwame had 13 points and 11 rebounds, Lamar had 15 points 17 rebounds, Luke Walton had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Kobe Bryant had 17 points 7 assists and 5 rebounds, and Smush Parker had 18 points. The team played great and now I'm starting to really feel that they have a chance to win the series.
Good and Bad
Okay, so to get the bad out of the way early, and because I know you want to here it. The Braves got swept by the Brewers. Ouch. I know. Sheets pitched good today, but I don't know what happened. They were all relatively close, the Braves just lost them all. All Three. They are now 5 games behind the Mets and actually behind the Phillies in the standings. This will be very short though. The Braves start a 3 game series against the METS tomorrow. More on that later. Speaking of which, the Braves didn't allow Barry Bonds any home runs. The Mets allowed 2. And that ain't BS.
In good news, The Lakers have tied the series against the Suns. Kobe Bryant played great tonight and put Steve Nash in his place. The series is far from over, and the Lakers are big under dogs, but you know what I'm rooting for hard. It will take a team effort but that doesn't necessarilly mean that Kobe will have to be a team player. P.S. Kobe dunked on Steve Nash HARD. Great Game. 1-1.
Kobe scores 81!
Kobe's 81-point game second only to Wilt
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Kobe Bryant scored a staggering 81 points -- the second-highest total in NBA history -- and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors 122-104 Sunday night.
With the fans at Staples Center chanting "MVP! MVP!" Bryant made two free throws with 43.4 seconds remaining for his final points, putting him behind only Wilt Chamberlain on the all-time scoring list.
Chamberlain scored 100 points for Philadelphia against the New York Knicks at Hershey, Pa., on March 2, 1962. His second-highest total was 78 against the Lakers in three overtimes on Dec. 8, 1961.
"I couldn't even dream of this when I was a kid," Bryant said. "There was no way possible."
Bryant left to a standing ovation with 4.2 seconds remaining, having shot 28-of-46 from the floor and 18-of-20 from the foul line. He was 7-of-13 from 3-point range.
Elgin Baylor held the previous franchise record of 71 points at New York on Nov. 15, 1960.
Michael Jordan's career high was 69 points, and only four players had ever scored more than 70 -- Chamberlain, Baylor, David Thompson and David Robinson.
The 27-year-old Bryant made it five.
He played nearly 42 minutes, going the entire second half until being lifted by coach Phil Jackson. He scored 27 points in the third quarter and 28 more in the fourth.
That came on the same night the NBA had its highest-scoring game in 11 years when Seattle beat Phoenix 152-149 in two overtimes. The last 300-point game in the league came when Dallas beat Houston 156-147 in two overtimes on April 11, 1995, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Bryant's previous career high was 62 points during a 112-90 victory over Dallas last month, but sat out the fourth quarter because of the one-sided nature of the game.
Lamar Odom's 3-pointer with 7:04 remaining gave the Lakers a 100-93 lead, and Bryant scored 30 seconds later to give him 61 points and his team a nine-point advantage.
Bryant scored all but 15 of the Lakers' 42 points in the third quarter, shooting 11-of-15 including 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Six of his points came during a 12-0 run to finish the period, giving Los Angeles a 91-85 lead.
Smush Parker was second on the Lakers with 13 points and Chris Mihm added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Mike James had 26 points and 10 assists for Toronto. Chris Bosh added 18 points and eight rebounds and Jalen Rose scored 17 points.
The Lakers outscored the Raptors 38-14 to finish the third period to go ahead for good.
With Bryant on the bench, the Lakers were outscored 10-3 in the first 6 minutes of the second quarter. Sasha Vujacic's 3-pointer was their only field goal in 11 tries during that time.
The Raptors led by as many as 16 points in the period before settling for a 63-49 halftime lead. Bryant had 26 points and James had 19 points and nine assists in the first half.
Toronto shot 15-of-22 including 4-of-6 from 3-point range in the first quarter for a 36-29 lead.
Game notes
Bryant scored a season-low 11 points in the Lakers' 102-91 victory over the Raptors in Toronto last month. He had 14 in the first quarter of this game. ... The Raptors have gone 13-12 since losing 15 of their first 16 games this season. ... Bryant has led the Lakers in scoring in the last 21 games in which he's played. He entered with an NBA-leading 34.8-point average, and is averaging 45.5 points in 10 games since sitting out a two-game suspension. ... Toronto C Rafael Araujo, who has made 30 starts this season, missed his second straight game and third of the season because of a sore right shoulder. ... Bryant made his first five foul shots before missing late in the second quarter, snapping his streak of consecutive made free throws at 62. Michael Williams made an NBA-record 93 straight for Minnesota in 1993. ... Bryant received a technical foul with 10:44 left -- shortly after being accidentally struck above the right eye.
Lakers game last night
They basically blew a 14 point lead to the Jazz in the fourth quarter. the Jazz took the lead with 47 seconds to go in the game after trailing the entire game. Jazz had the ball and a lead, got fouled, missed one of the free throws, and lead by 2 with about 20 seconds to go. Lakers inbounded, ran the offense around, Kobe got a shot, and initiated contact with the defender. He missed by a mile and I heard the ref blew his whistle. Marv Albert thought the game was over. It was replayed to see how much time was left on the clock because the shot was at or near the buzzer. Live during the game, it looked like a foul. I certainly am glad that it was called a foul. Kobe went on to hit the two shots and tie the game. Game goes to overtime, Kobe fouls out, Sasha is clutch and key to winning this game, Lamar is 1 assist short a triple double, and the Lakers win by 4 in overtime. But man, they nearly blew it. They stink again this year. but then again, it's expected. Phil did say his plan calls for 3 years.
Kobe Nails It!
Lakers start the season 1-0. Welcome back Phil. Hello Smush Parker.

NBA Draft 2005
Interesting Draft
I like the Bobcat's picks a lot. Anytime you can team together one of the most dominant big men (Sean May) last year in the NCAA with the point guard (Raymond Felton) that also lead you to a National Championship from the same state that your 2 year old franchise who just moved into a new arena can be done... You do it. They are going to improve quickly.
I'm okay with the Lakers picks. I don't know much about Bynum. I just know he is young and could have lots of talent. I sure hope he does. I just didnt think they'd him with all the talent that was available at the time. However, they needed a PG or a C and there weren't any decent point guards available. The guys I wanted Warrick, Jack, Garcia, Hodges, Green, weren't projected as high as pick 10 plus they already have a lot of players like that. Except for Jarrent Jack who was drafted by Denver but then dealt to Portland for the rights to two later picks.
Charlie Villanueva is a thug and I can't believe he went that high.
I was hoping Hakim Warrick wouldn't go to a crappy team or at least one of the teams that I could semi-root for. I'm just going to hope he gets traded soon which probably won't happen. At that point I was hoping that he would slip 1 more spot to play with Melo but oh well..
I am interested to see how well these Point Guards do. Deron Williams, Chris Paul, and Felton. How well Marvin Williams will live up to the hype? How many of these players will even make an impact at all?
Bynum is rocking cold pizza as we speak. His favorite subject in high school was Physics.
1 Milwaukee Bucks Andrew Bogut, Utah
2 Atlanta Hawks Marvin Williams, North Carolina
3 Utah Jazz Deron Williams, Illinois
4 New Orleans Hornets Chris Paul, Wake Forest
5 Charlotte Bobcats Raymond Felton, North Carolina
6 Portland Trail Blazers Martell Webster, Seattle Prep HS
7 Toronto Raptors Charlie Villanueva, Connecticut
8 New York Knicks Channing Frye, Arizona
9 Golden State Warriors Ike Diogu, Arizona State
10 LA Lakers Andrew Bynum, St. Joseph (NJ) HS
11 Orlando Magic Fran Vazquez, Spain
12 LA Clippers Yaroslav Korolev, CSKA Moscow
13 Charlotte Bobcats Sean May, North Carolina
14 Minnesota Timberwolves Rashad McCants, North Carolina
15 New Jersey Nets Antoine Wright, Texas A&M
16 Toronto Raptors Joey Graham, Oklahoma State
17 Indiana Pacers Danny Granger, New Mexico
18 Boston Celtics Gerald Green, Gulf Shores Acad (TX)
19 Memphis Grizzlies Hakim Warrick, Syracuse
20 Denver Nuggets Julius Hodge, North Carolina State
21 Phoenix Suns Nate Robinson, Washington (to New York)
22 Denver Nuggets Jarrett Jack, Georgia Tech (to Portland)
23 Sacramento Kings Francisco Garcia, Louisville
24 Houston Rockets Luther Head, Illinois
25 Seattle SuperSonics Johan Petro, France

The NBA Draft is Tonight
Ho-Hum
sounds like
1. Adruw Bogut, Bucks
2. Marvin Williams, Hawks
3. Deron Williams, Jazz (traded for pick earlier today)
Lakers pick tenth. Personally i think they need to trade up and either get Deron Williams, Chris Paul, or Raymond Felton. We'll see.
I'm interested to see who the Charlotte Bobcats take at #5 and #13 and where all the Tar Heels fall to.
hoe-hum after the lottery..
whoever drafts HAKIM WARRICK is getting a serious PLAYER
and after that whatever...
Lakers Breaking News
Officially eliminated from playoff contention yesterday. This season couldn't be over sooner.
This Year’s Lakers Team vs Last Year’s
I love this Lakers team.
Sure, they do not have the individual talent that they had last year with guys like Karl Malone, Gary Payton, and Shaquille O'Neal gone but this team has a lot of heart.
It's almost the end of a battle for a strugg-a-ling Timberwolve team and because of guys like Caron Butler they are hanging in. Kobe Bryant is currently out with a strained ankle.
I dig Butler's energy. I dig Lamar Odom's ability. I like Chucky Atkins at the 3. Brian Cook is a completely different player. Chris Mihm has been suprisingly excellent.
After losing the Hall of Fame quality last year after a very disappointing end to the season it seemed as if the Lakers were destined towards mediocrity this year. Although they are not one of the elite teams anymore they are still a playoff team in a very difficult Western division. This team excites me. One of the greatest coaches in Phil Jackson is gone. Rudy Tomjanovich is his replacement, a very reputable coach.
The Lakers win! This is a great win for a team on the rise. Excellent.
The Glove Traded
An NBA source told ESPN.com's Bill Simmons that the Celtics have dealt Chris Mihm (in a sign-and-trade), guards Marcus Banks and Chucky Atkins and a future second-round pick to Los Angeles for Payton, Rick Fox and a lottery-protected first-round draft pick.
