100: Nirvana, Sam Roberts

92. Nirvana – Unplugged 2/16
I’ve spent a lot of time listening to this album. Right now it’s Daddy Daughter time, we are playing and listening to this. This is one of the very first CD’s I ever got, the same day I got my very own CD player. I listened to this and Nevermind a lot. A lot. I haven’t typed much while listening to this, this time.. and that’s okay. I’ll listen to it again soon. I love the album for what it is, but it was much later on that I found out more about the day they recorded this album and how sick Kurt was at the time. He is so perfect on this recording, but he was all sorts of ways wrong inside. I do wish the album included the full show and in their original played order. I wish I typed some of the great lines from this album but oh well. I still haven’t seen a repeated airing of the Unplugged on TV since MTV played it for an entire month around the time of Kurt’s very untimely death. I’m sure I’ve missed it, but I need a heads up on that or just order the dvd, ahh I see now they did finally put that out. They hadn’t last time I thought about it.

93. Sam Roberts – We Were Born In A Flame 2/16
Though I might like Chemical City a little more, this is the first album I had of theirs and it hooked me. I didn’t type much while listening due to playing with the baby girl the entire time. Stay tuned for that movie someday!

100 Albums Day Two: Nirvana, Against Me!, MGMT, The Morning Benders, The National, Phantogram

4. Nirvana – Nevermind 11/18/2010
Wow. This album is already nearly 20 years old. That hurts my head slightly just thinking about it. Seems like just yesterday I was up in my room listening to this and the unplugged album. A couple of the first two compact discs I ever owned. Hm, would Teen Spirit be as big if it was released now? A lot of why the Seattle grunge scene got so huge was probably due to the timing. But, either way this album and Teen Spirit is still as awesome as it was then. Here we are now, entertain us! Nautre is a whore. No I don’t have a gun. Stay away stay away. I’m on a plane. I can’t complain. A lot of silence on this last track to the hidden track.. I should chop it up and make 2 files but i’m lazy.. Okay, going to skip ahead to hidden track, much easier to do now than it was with Cd’s.. Another great album selection that I’ve heard a million times, time to switch it up and listen to something I haven’t listened to yet.

5. Against Me! – New Wave 11/18
Sliding right in immediately following the above, this fun album by Against Me! Okay, I’ve listened to a lot of this before, but I’m not sure I’ve listened front to back.. Digging on it right now! Thrash Unreal has the highest rating in my playlist from this album. I dig it. Stop take some time to think figure out what’s important to you. It’s a serious situation. Wow that album flew by pretty quick. Okay I see what’s going on here, this playlist is albums and it’s ordered by album name, cause immediately following this album the following started…

6. MGMT – Oracular Spectacular 11/18
Yeah it’s overwhelming, but what else can we do? Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?… We’re fated to pretend. There’s nothing we can do.. it’s already Time to Pretend. All the weekend warriors. This album came out of nowhere didn’t it. It’s real good. The previous album had a few songs that I hadn’t listened to often, this one has a few more. The good ones are real good, the decent ones are just decent. Kids, Time to Pretend, and Electric Feel are the hits I pump. Like The Youth, I like it’s psychadelicness but outside the album it’s not necessarilly a repeat listener. Shock me like an electric eel! The water is warm but it’s sending me shivers. Pieces of what? It doesn’t matter any more. Wow, that album was pretty short too. Okay, break time.

7. The Morning Benders – Big Echo 11/18
The album starts very dreamlike. I’ve listened to a few tracks on this album before but not all of them and definitely not as a whole. This album has a very high production value and feels good listening to it. I haven’t listened to any of these albums yet exclusively with headphones, this is one to go back to with headphones as there is a lot of layers here. This is the first disc I have done from 2010 so far. Not so sure I’m up to speed with a lot of 2010, I’m still digging a lot of 2009 stuff. I like this one.

8. The National – Boxer 11/18
Straight into this album. Another good one from 2007. Smooth voice. Fun songs. Check out Mistaken For Strangers and Brainy. You know I dreamed about you, 29 years before I saw you. You dumbstruck baby now you know. Ada track #11 sounds similar to a previous song on this album, can’t think which one now wasn’t look at name of each one as I listened. Leave it up in the end.

9. Phantogram – Eyelid Movies 11/18
This album started playing shortly after the previous one and I didn’t have the heart to switch it. Wasn’t quite ready for it yet but at the same time, this as good a place as any. This album has become my go to album for the past 6 months or more. I don’t know what I would have listened to otherwise without it. I love it. Easy on you now, I should have been a little bit easier on you now. Phantogram is from Saratoga Springs and this album totally rocks the house. Check it out immediately if you haven’t. All dried up. As far as I can tell nobody loves either. Some day I’m gonna miss you. Let me go let me go. 10,000 claps for sure.
