Home for the Holidays

We’re Back!

Just so you know.

It was GREAT to visit with everyone in New Jersey, Holley, Rochester, Auburn, Letchworth Park, and in between!
SAGE ALSO HAD A BEST
BEST TIME EVER she kept on saying over and over in the car!
Now she has a new toy to play with and is super excited.
I’ll tell her you said Hi.

So…

By the way, we made it into New Jersey last night around 3AM in case anyone was wondering.

Traveling Today

Heard last night that the Nor’easter is supposed to be today’s big story. Rain, Sleet, Snow even in the Mid-Atlantic today. Great! We’ll be driving from Michigan to New Jersey through Ohio and Pennslyvania today.. Should be at least interesting with the weather I guess.

Here is the Travel Advisory from weather.com
Nasty Northeast
10/25/2005 2:25 a.m. ET Senior Meteorologist, The Weather Channel
Northeast
A coastal storm will develop rapidly early this morning and produce rush hour misery across the Northeast from Pennsylvania and New Jersey to New England. Energy from Hurricane Wilma may also energize this system slightly and make the results even worse. Wind gusts from 50 to 60 mph seem likely along the New England coast and over Long Island, with possibly higher gusts around Cape Cod and the Islands. Moderate coastal flooding is expected and a storm surge of 3 feet may occur in Boston. Rainfall is expected to be heavy, probably in the range of 2 to 4 inches in areas already saturated. Coastal flooding and heavy surf can also be anticipated. Accumulating snowfall, primarily above 1500 feet, seems likely from West Virginia into the Green Mountains of Vermont. Heavy wet snow on leaf-bearing trees any cause tree and power line damage and a resulting loss of power for some. Winter storm watches extend from West Virginia to New England for the higher elevations. Temperatures will be chilly so keep the heavy jackets handy.

Out of Town Tour

We’re heading out tomorrow morning en route to New Jersey. We’ll be there for a few days and then in upstate New York.. Should be back sometime on Halloween. I’ll try to hit this from the road at some point.

Okay so like..

I’m home now.

Germs are everywhere

I somehow managed to catch a cold here in NYC which pretty much stinks. I went from sleeping thursday night on Vassili’s couch in the extreme heat and sweating all night to the next night sleeping in extreme cold and freezing at Colleen’s Fordham apartment. But whatever. Hopefully the plane ride won’t completely suck because of this head cold. (In all previous examples, it has).
My dad and Colleen are out getting the rental SUV so we can load up all of her gear into that. He’s going to drive it back to Holley, NY with her stuff. My flight out of JFK is at 4pm so I have to leave here and hop on the subway around 1ish. My mom and sister’s flight doesn’t leave until 8 so they will have some time to kill in between.
All in all I had a great time and will be posting some pictures when I return home. I’ll be home by 8 something tonight. Then it’s back to the daily grind for me.
Later for now.

Back Again

Okay, so maybe more like 3AM.. but so what. We’re back and that’s it. To all we saw, it was great. To all we did not get a chance to see, sorry. Next time hopefully there is more time. Alrighty then… Time to get the dog tired so she can go to sleep. She has been in the car for well over 10 hours today. I’m beat.

Okay..

Time to bust it.

In Holley, NY right now.. We gotta go the rest of the way home now. So….

We are about to bounce.

I’ll post when we get back so all you listeners of the world of brian smith do not need to worry about whether or not we made it.

So… figure a little bit later on tonight.. 2AM or so.

From the road

So after a relaxing time at the Park and a great visit to Kate and Chris’s for Anna’s First birthday party we are slowly about to get back on the road and travel the 600+ miles back to Michigan so I can make it on time to work tomorrow morning. What a blast. Sage has been behaving quite well. Saturday night in the tent she slept on our pillows that little perra. Anyway. Braves won a few games this week, and Mets lost even more so everything is copesitic. In a dazed sleepy dream I was even able to catch Robert Horry’s shot with 5 seconds to go last night. That guy is a monster. Okay I’m out. The French Toast calls…
Talk to you around 2AM or so after 10 coffee breaks.

We made it to Hornell

10 hours later and a lot of miles, Sara, Sage and I have made it to her dads house in Hornell. Currently the dog is running around like a mad women causing lots of trouble. Shadow (their dog) isn’t exactly too happy to see her. She keeps barking and what not. Anyway. That’s it. We’re going to try and go catch some shut eye. I for one am tired.

See Ya

Wouldn’t want to be ya!

Peace, I’m outta here.

Out of town…

Will be going out of town Thursday > Monday..

I’ll try to send some thoughts from the road, but don’t sit hit refreshing the page til it happens.

We made it!

Sara is in Saratoga and I am in Oneonta. Sage was perfectly behaved for the entire drive. I saw Rezi last night in Gloversville. It was a great show. Then I hitched a ride to Oneonta. Well.. that’s the update for now. More info to follow.

Rezi 5/5/05 Cafe Zacquor, Gloversville, NY

1. 2001, My Guitar, Lemmings -> Doink -> Scatterbrains, The Infection
2. Concussion, Tomonari, Backwash, The Nothing, Urraca Mesa, Mr. Oblivious, Squirrelman

Lineup: Phil, Ned, Eric, Jason

And so…

We’re off.

the adventure begins..

Driving Back

I really should have filled my gas tank on the way back. I left Mount Pleasant with a bit over a half tank and knew I would possibly not need it on the way. I still had plenty when I left so I wanted to see if I could get all the way back without getting gas. Plus I was feeling lazy so I didn’t. Two days later the gas rose 20 cents a gallon and that pisses me off. I still haven’t gotten it, but I really need to soon. What a crapper.

On the way I stopped and took this picture of Cadillac Lake… near Cadillac!

Year End

I don’t really have too many ideas for year ending posts… I would like some ideas, I just don’t have any. Here is all I remember from 2004 in no particular order.
Working, Going to Rezi shows, Moving, and Driving.

I’m in NY. I’ve been in NY since Friday. Tomorrow I am heading to the Capital Region (Gloversville/Saratoga) for some Rezi shows at Zacquor (12/30, 12/31) and to visit the old working place, and to see Kate and the baby.

I’ll be driving back on Saturday and will stop here in Holley to pick up Meg and the rest of my other crap and then hit the rest of the road onwards back to Michigan.

It’s been an entertaining week. I got to see some family members I hadn’t seen in a while. I got to see some friends I hadn’t seen in a while. I shot some pretty mean darts at C&S. I got dealt some pretty decent Euchre cards. Not much else exciting happened.

Have a good one.

Hey Yo

Made it to Jersey. BJ and I went to Brooklyn and hung out with Vas. Got back to Jersey around 3 AM. Now we are getting ready to drive down to Emmaus/Philly for Ben’s wedding. I am eating cheerios. As fast as I can. Which means I have a moutful right now. Anyway. Cherrio.

Heading Out

Well, I am heading out of tomn tomorrow for a little bit. Tomorrow I board a flight in Lansing, make a quick stop in Washington DC, and arrive in Neward, New Jersey. Yee. At which time I will meet up with Bob Jones who will take me to Jersey City and it’s possible we will venture to Brooklyn tomorrow night. On Saturday we will wake and go to Ben Colson’s wedding in Emmaus, PA and the reception in Philadelphia. On Sunday we will rise and return to Jersey City to watch the Falcons crush the Giants. At which time either my father will be picking me up and I will spend the week in Holley, NY or I will stay and meet up with Sara once she reaches New Jersey. Not sure what is happening yet. But first thing first. If you need me, I’ll be back.
